Is it just me, or do people seem less vibrant today? (feddit.org)

Remembering my aunts and uncles from my childhood, a lot of the older people today don't seem to have as much energy -- I come from the US.

I've noticed people can be erratic and easily agitated now. Almost everyone I know in their 40s and 50s is angry all the time. Heavy drinking. Not able to process new information very well.

My uncle had a kid at 50 and played with her non-stop. I don't know anyone capable of that now.

Am I the only one seeing this?

We're fucking tired, man. We're in debt, behind on bills and having to work more than since the depression.

I get things are expensive and hard. I just don’t understand the debt. I grew up really poor. Never had anything. Family didn’t have debt though. Now I’m Lower lower middle class. I moved up over my parents. Still struggling. Still no savings at 39. But no debt.

How do people acquire so much debt? Is it college (I was too poor to consider it because it would be 100% financed through loans, which ain’t happening), credit cards? I’ve never had one. I always thought those were for rich people. Home loans? Medical? Like everyone I know is in debt and I don’t get it.

Poor, I get. Hunger, I get. Homelessness, I get. I just don’t understand debt.

My wife lost her job last year due to illness. Had to take a loan out against one of the cars. My income alone wasn't enough. Got behind on bills. Shit happens, man.
