Weirdly, I don't think any of her music has ever clicked for me on first listen. She was one of the first artists I remember thinking "part of my brain says I do not like this but the other part says there's something there. Try to find that thing."

Hopefully that makes sense. Some things are only "bad" because they're unfamiliar and Thao often explores sounds I'm not familiar with. I love that.
