And abandoned within three weeks. Also does the same thing as at least a dozen other tools that already existed. But it has a snazzy name and a whole website like it's something great, which it's not.
I don’t mind the “does the same thing”, I do that myself because I’ve been burned by single use tools becoming everything apps slowly. (*arr stack apps tend to do this…) My apps are just on GitHub and only for me.
What I do mind is buying a domain and making a snazzy landing page for what is pretty much a weekend project. Oh and a Discord “community” with more channels than users.
More importantly, I don’t use Discord and I am not going to sign up for a second account on top of GitHub or whatever just to interact with your project.
Kinda shows what a good name/brand can do for a project. I like open source but my god the names for some of the projects are the worst.
If we are commit years of our lives to a project maybe take more than a minute to come up with a name :/
I find tech startup names far worse.
Especially the ones where they just... spell something wrong, like Lyft or Grindr. (Not startups anymore, I know, but that's how they got the name).
But I wouldn't mind if you convinced me otherwise with some good examples lol
