Slapping isn't good, but I would be careful judging/crucifying someone based on a small clip without the complete context. All are humans, and though it is by no means right, we all have limits to what we can take before we snap. Words can be even more cruel and hurtful than a slap, and we don't know what is beeing said.. that said, this doesn't look good.
He's in a place of power and has 2 people for backup. Fuck him.
You see a tiny clip that matches your world view: police are bad. And instantly you no longer care about context. This is exactly how MAGA processes information.
Always demand the full picture. Never listen to only one side. And stay cricital of all evidence shown. That is hard, but at least stop downvoting and telling off people that point this out.
And I repeat: this still looks bad. Very much worth investigating what happened. Most likely this cop went out of line. But let's not play judge based on a couple of seconds of contextless video.
Why not? Describe a situation where that behaviour is justified.
There is no context necessary.
~~Most likely~~ this cop went out of line. PERIOD
The woman is cuffed.
What you're looking for is an excuse or explanation why the pig couldn't control himself, acted totally unprofessional and abused his powers.
There is no justification for this and he should be punished.
They have rules and laws to follow too.
He deserves no sympathy or understanding.
Neither do the bootlickers of authoritarian violence who want to excuse this despicable behavior.
me after a 2 second clip without context:
I've seen enough, I'm calling it
unless you're from the US or another violence loving sick authoritarian banana republic slapping a cuffed woman in the face is very much wrong and illegal.
There is really nothing more needed than this 2 second clip.
At least you got that right.
What a braindead take.
You can't "snap" and punch someone when you're a cop and under literally no danger.
Found the cop
I think you replied to the wrong comment.
if he can't control himself and uses violent on a handcuffed woman he has no business being a cop.
There is no nuance here.
Absolutely! That kind of behaviour shouldn't be tolerated and needs to have consequences.
Let's try and find a Steel Man argument for this. Lets say...
She's been arrested for murder, and the cop who slaps her is the father of the victim. And he slaps her in response to her saying she'll murder someone else in his family. Oh, and for good measure, let's say the woman was a Nazi. I love Nazis getting punched.
That's a cartoonishly large motivation to slap the hell out of someone.
But, it's still not okay. Abuse of power is abuse of power. The power is the important dynamic here. Sure, this time it's a Nazi murderer. We don't like Nazis or murder. What happens when the people who decide abuse of power is okay aren't aligned with my views? What happens when they don't like trans people? Or people of color? Or you, individually and specifically?
This is not reactionary, it's fundamentally antithetical to a safe and free society.
Of course a piefed user says this
Let's not instance-blame though, every asshat is unique
I'll give you an updoot for contributing, even though I think this video show clear abuse of power.
How about this situation: An old demented woman in a nursing home is freaking out not wanting to get back in bed, perhaps hurling racist insults, and their carer finally snaps and hits her so she'll comply.
Would that be OK?
