Congressional Republicans Aim to Shield Fossil Fuel Companies From Climate Lawsuits
(insideclimatenews.org)
Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.
As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades:

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world:

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Anti-science, inactivism, and unsupported conspiracy theories are not ok here.
Good thing we now know the next president can label the executives that follow through a national security threat, freeze their accounts, sanction them and force the sale of any company needed to another American company of choice then revoke their families citizenship and deport them to a country they have never been to or speak the language. (Or just a prison camp)
Or are those just legal acts when done by Trump?
Oh wait I forgot he already set Republican support of the U.S. government buying stake in the company as well. I suppose that means they can just take majority stake and assign someone in their cabinet to run it like Rubio's supposedly doing Venezuelas oil deals.
All of these things show this government system can't continue as it is or it will guarantee a constant rise of the population being accosted and mistreated until there truly is a collapse.
Wilhoit's Law applies:
Or to put it in other terms, Conservatism says:
wow I want some of whatever psychedelic you're on. That shit would never happen. Any Democrat that the oligarchs allowed to get elected would never do anything that actually threatens their economic interest.
I agree with you to a point, but the reason Trump's administration has had to try to roll back restrictions placed against such companies during both his administrations is because those regulations were indeed signed in.
When were the regulations signed in though? In an era different from today. Without major reform or minor revolution we wouldn't be able to get back to that era.
Biden passed the 2024 Powerplant regulations that they are rolling back now, and Obama passed the clean power plan 2015 built on the 2009 greenhouse gas engagement finding performed during his first term.
So the eras were the last 3 times Republicans were not in office
