Like any sort of jailbreak or homebrew, the dev relied on a bug in the PS5 code to install Linux. The script kiddies ruined it all by reporting the bug and presumably getting it patched out by Sony.

I don't know the mechanics of how this project uses said bug, but I would assume the entire project is dead in the water for any new OS updates for the PS5. Unless someone finds a new bug to exploit, only people who didn't update their PS5 can still install the Linux project.
