We should indeed thank the US government for pushing the migration to BEVs and regenerative energy so much.
Measures seem to be more effective than anything any government has done before.
BEV sales a soaring, and here in Germany heat-pumps suddenly seem finally to be seen as the better alternative by most now, while they still had been widely disputed just a year ago.
Strategy of the US seems a bit confusing to me, though.
On the one hand denying climate change, on the other hand starting the biggest, most costly, and most successful initiative to make fossil fuels unattractive and push green transformation.
I’ll never understand why the entire HVAC industry still hates heat pumps so much. Also why they charge double the price like it’s some exotic technology.
I know why they charge too high prices here in Germany at least:
1.) Too many and much too strict regulations you have to follow and which specifically call for experts to install this kind of stuff -> the experts are a rare commodity and set the prices.
2.) Heat pumps are subsidized. And like with any subsidy, the money doesn't make the product cheaper, but increases the profit of the seller, who just raises the price accordingly.
What I don't see here is that the heating contractors hate heat pumps.
On the contrary: They earn good money because of all the retrofits and new installations (see previous points...)
The US strategy is simple
We are being led by a Russian asset who has surrounded himself with sycophants.
If you want to know EXACTLY what Trump is going to do in any situation, just ask yourself how much of Putin’s agenda can he get away with and you will be right 100% of the time.
I'd wager the Arab League (Saudi Arabia, Qatar the jet bringer, etc.) has a lot more influence than Russia. Seriously, it's pretty obvious, they are not hiding it. Russia is, if anything, a diversion at best.
It's not that he won't take money from Russia, it's just that the League has so much more to "donate". Russian oligarchs are comparatively small potatoes.
No, I don't think this explains it in this case.
Russia heavily relies on the export of fossil fuels, so they will lose a lot in the long run following the US's surprising violent push for fostering world-wide use of green energy.

It's confusing because you're looking for some logic or rationale. It stops being confusing when you realize Trump is an idiot who does what he wants without any consideration for any bigger picture and he's easily impressionable which makes it easy to manipulate what he "wants" to do.
There is no logic here, there's only a moron with too much power.
The oil companies and their billionaire oligarchs are making bank on this. Note that the Feds dropped the EV tax credit in the US and Chinese EVs cannot be sold in the US, and the picture will begin to come into focus. Also note that the best selling EVs in a country with artificially few options to choose from are manufactured by a company owned by... yes, a billionaire oligarch. The US is a Klepto-Oligarchy with a veneer of Democracy.
Green initiatives (ones that work and ones that don't) will only be popular with the right when someone in the group is making profit from it. Follow the money. They aren't doing it for any of the right reasons.
