From my experience quicktime events mainly work in kids games. Its a really gimmicky mechanic but if you dont want to make a complex battle too hard for example or have a cutscene it works if youre audience isnt used to playing videogames.

Until dawn used them well imo. They transfer the urgency to the user, elevating the experience.
