We're all perfectly capable of using translation software. 🤷♀️
Wrong attitude. The author should do the work at his end, once, to provide the content in a format designed for the maximum target audience. Do not expect the audience to do the author's work for him. They won't.
I am surprised having to explain the obvious.
But if the author translates their post into English, then French speakers still have to translate it back. The same problem happens.
No matter what you do, some people can't read what you post. Your choice is who you want to read it, and they probably don't care if Anglophones can read their post.
Wrong attitude, with that logic every post should use the absolute simplest vocabulary even while writing the same language. The author shouldn't expect everyone to use a translator, but those people can just scroll past. It's not up to the author to write for everyone.

Should've used the translate feature built-in basicallt everywhere, like I do ;)
I usually read this in Jerboa. My home instance can't even be read on the web from GOS with VPN on.
Imagine que chacun écrive dans sa langue, et que le programme hôte soit chargé de la traduction des messages. À titre personnel j'aime bien le concept, parce que j'ai l'impression que ça irait contre la tendance à l'uniformisation des échanges sur le net (qui sont par défaut souvent en anglais, en tout cas sur le web occidental). T'en penses quoi? J'ai utilisé deepL pour traduire ton message.
