I'm in a position where I make decent money but could make a lot more, and my boss knows it too. But I get to work whenever I want barring an emergency situation. So I get to spend most of the day with my family doing things outside and playing games and I sit on my laptop at night throw on a movie or show. I don't really have any meetings aside from "meeting week" one a year where I'm on a call with all of our big customers checking in and going over stuff. The only downside is I stay up late to work so I usually miss breakfast with the family, but I've never been a morning person anyway.

Last year I did apply to a few jobs just to see what's out there and ended up with 2 job offers, one for pretty much the same job for a $45k raise and another that would've been a lot more responsibility and harder work for $60k more. After talking about it with my wife we decided it wasn't worth it and I declined both. Brought it up to my boss and he gave me a 10k raised.

The freedom I have to take my kids to the beach or zoo on a whim, play catch whenever they ask and every once in a long blue moon take a day for myself without needing to request a PTO day, I'd need probably a cool quarter million to consider giving it up, which I don't think I'll ever get offered.

I basically missed the first year of my oldest kids life just to scrape by, for my second I got to be there for every little moment and milestone and do just a little more than scrape by which is fine by me. I lucked into a sweet spot and I'd never willingly give it up.
