MODERATORS
Yes and no, this is what's called a ground swell. It is formed by winds very far away on the other side of the ocean. The distance it travels, plus the lack of swells coming in other directions and low wind when it gets to it's destination essentially scrub it of any imperfections and causes it to become more uniform.
It's the epitome of the search for the perfect wave.
