Thanks. Sometimes people do change, but normally not from the actions of strangers.

I've found through experience that hate, spite, revenge, hell even the desire for justice, will make me spiral in negative thoughts. It's just not healthy for me. I'm still working on it of course, but I try really hard to love first, and to give others the same allowances for mistakes that I give myself.

I guess that's my point about love being better than hate. It might change the other person. It will definitely benefit the person who is focused on love.

I managed to overcome, if not hate, then at least judgement of other people that I used to do. I would judge them by my morals, by my religious beliefs, when it was never my place to do so. But you're right. It wasn't love from other people that changed me. It was letting go of things I learned as a child, and growing to maturity and adulthood. It was my own spiritual journey that led me to stop holding other people to moral precepts that I follow. As long as another person isn't actively harming someone, it's not my business. If I see someone hurting, I might try to help with positive action, even if they direct the hurt at me. But I can't hold them to my standards, and they can't hold me to theirs
