I heard a podcast where they were discussing the recent apocolyptic warnings about AI possibily ending humanity. The interviewer was asking how this was supposed to happen. Various ideas were bandied about, such as AI making a virus and the like.
But maybe it was just killer robot dogs:

A computer program cannot "make" anything. AI will not clear your toilets.
You can order custom DNA sequences from automated labs.
Search for "custom dna synthesis" and you'll find dozens of companies doing this. An AI could easily order a virus.
Why bother? the dumbest people in the world are more than willing to hand it any resources it could want even if it means killing everyone else and eventually themselves.
