7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. 10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

This court is unbelievably hateful.
Deliberately trying to get transwomen killed. Fascist state doing what it always does.
please don't leave out the space in trans women. trans is an adjective that can apply to a woman like tall or cis or happy. 'transwomen' as one word implies a thing seperate from women, rather than a descriptor that applies to some women.
We now feel slightly less insane for all the times we've been the entity saying this. Thanks!

you're right, i'm so sorry for focusing on the wrong kind of subjugation and dehumanization. if i can humbly ask - could you provide me a list of which kinds i should object to and which i should sit quietly and take? so sorry if that's too small potatoes to be worth your time.
Two things can be true at once, and fighting for a just world means fighting battles on many fronts. If someone is outraged at the awful dehumanisation discussed in the article, then I would imagine that they'd be more likely to be receptive to a minor, polite correction in language. Better for that conversation to happen in a thread like this than in a more public context.
Refusing to accept trans women as women but sentencing them with men who absolutely will rape them like they would any other women. We're only women when it comes to raping us

I had no idea and it's horrifying; paraphrasing: we allow them to rape the trans woman to reduce their violence against other inmates... Because the raped trans woman is not considered an inmate? Because raping is not violent? Or because a man with a black eye is worse than a woman with a black eye??
I think the idea is that people are less likely to try to kill someone they've been given free reign to rape than someone that pisses them off. And that trans women who've been hurt are less capable of attacking guards than cis men who've been hurt
That... Fuck, that kinda "explains" it... It also makes it even worse, the fact that "they will retaliate against us less" is part of the rationale, when the guards have all the power, is even more disgusting.
Yeah, prison guards are often really awful people. Cowardly bully types especially. It's why they're among the first to fight against rehabilitation programs and ending solitary confinement (which is generally agreed by psychologists to be a form of torture)

Thank you for linking this. Lately I've been trying to be more vocal about this topic (and sexual violence against trans people in general) because it's become clear it's really just not well known outside trans communities
The 9th circuit is the most liberal in the US. There are many judges and three are selected randomly and based in availablity. This was bad luck for getting three trump appointees. The case will go back to the court en banc and the decision reversed.

There is no point in engaging in conspiracy thinking. You can take a moment to read up on how this works, there are plenty of webpages out there that explain it.
I know you want to be able to point at the bad guys doing the bad things, but sometimes it isn't that. Sometimes bad things happen just because that is how the system works. Remember that it is a legal system, not a justice system.
What % of judges on that court are trump appointees? Cube it and you'd get the chance of getting 3 of them.
I hope you're right. This is unsettling otherwise.
