I remember buying them, but that would be a shit gift.
Depends on the person. I asked for some because I didn't have an MP3 player and would burn CDs to listen to while on the bus. I couldn't buy them myself because I was too far from a store that sold them and couldn't drive.
Same here. I grew up in a small town and had no access to a store that sold CD-Rs. Getting a cylinder of them as a gift was awesome.
