MODERATORS
When trans women are placed in men's prisons we're often placed with sexually violent men, specifically in the hopes of calming them down/tiring them out. Trans women in this situation are often punished, including with parole denial and/or solitary for resisting.
The federal court of appeals has decided to permit the state to be a further accessory to/coperpetrator of rape, particularly targeting a specific group. All three of these judges should be seen as personally complicit

Like you caught me off guard with the Wikipedia link and I expected the "This page is a stub" not enough references thing...
Nope this is a thing, it's well documented and absolutely insane.
Yeah, I like to include the Wikipedia link when I talk about it specifically for that reason. It's a bold claim and while it's believable, it's easy to imagine it's something we only know about through stories and community knowledge. But no, this is a real, documented pattern of direct targeted harm done through an apparatus of state power. It takes this issue from one of theoretical harm to documented systems of harm.
Where trans women are in the prison system we need programs to protect us from such behaviors. In places where it isn't politically or legally feasible to house us in women's prisons we should at the bare minimum be kept from being forced to share a cell or other places of vulnerability (such as shared showers) with men.
We also need to combat the prevalence of prison rape in all cases and the sadism of prison guards. But those alone aren't a replacement for targeted opposition to v-coding and the conditions that enable it.
The US is straight up in the middle of a trans genocide and most cis people hardly seem to be bothered by it. They want us dead and will stop at nothing to accomplish that. They won't stop with us either.
I fled the US immediately after Trump got elected because of the threat it posed to me as a trans latina immigrant. I cannot count the number of people who told me I was overreacting.

I don't understand how the article can claim middle of a genocide when it's just reviewing laws and policies. A genocide is when killing happens no? Where are those statistics?

Killing people in camps is only one definition. The ones that apply here are #2 and #3 and to a degree #5 with states like Florida looking to take trans kids away from supportive parents
Ok then that makes sense I've only heard it in killing terms I didn't know there was a less severe use of the word. Which is kind of odd but here we are.
It isnt really any less severe... Less violent, maybe but not necessarily.
Native Americans have spent 500 years being genocided. Some of that was in extermination campaigns but a LOT of kidnapping and forced acculturation into "the white mans world" accomplishes the same goal of eradication of a culture or ethnic group.
There's a long history of forced sterilization in the american black community as well, not to mention that we have a record of arresting black men and throwing them in prison for the crime of being black and poor.
All of these are different methods of genocide.
I understand but I feel like most of the time when people hear the trans community is being genocided everyone thinks it's an overreaction because they immediately think of the killing part and concentration camps that's all I'm saying.

There is an association that makes sense to people, but that association isnt reflective of what genocide actually is. Its a specific example, and because that specific example isnt 1:1 it's misunderstood.
Nuance left the party around the time folks started thinking you could carry on a conversation with 144 characters or fewer, not that it was in the limelight before then either.
I do not have a solution for the interaction between brain and mouth, or mouth and brain, sadly.
