Yes, but the way they did it, everybody loses. Isn't that great?
So great. I love that they hoovered up (mostly illegally) all the Internet's knowledge and then enshittified web search intentionally.
It's like going back to the bad part of the early 2000s when skilled SEOs would game the algorithm to push their shitty websites to the top of the results, forcing everyone to navigate several pages of results to get 'real' useful content. Only this time it's the search engines themselves doing it intentionally, and the slop-sites are everywhere.
2008 nuff said
Maybe worth negative hundreds of billions to us. To the companies and investors, covering losses is the taxpayers' problem.
