Quick question from a non native English speaker: shouldn't the the text "I didn't even know what I am until a few weeks ago" be "I didn't even knew what I was until a few weeks ago"? I sound really weird to me as it is. I may be missing something but it feels like the event is in the past with "until a few weeks ago". Again, not a native speaker so I'm only trying to understand the language better. Thanks!
She learned what she was a few weeks ago, but she still is what she is. "What I was" may also be valid grammatically, but "what I am" is also valid, and feels more correct because her identity is an ongoing struggle.
Thank you, I will try to remember that ongoing aspect π
"I didn't even know" is correct, OR "I knew" would be correct grammatically as well (thought it would be a different meaning). "I didn't even knew" would not be correct. When forming a construct with auxiliary verbs like this, only the first verb should become past tense. In this case, that's "do" becoming "did".
Thank you π
