No card slot... Booooo !
I really loved their Droid 1. Phone jack, sd card slot, physical keyboard. It was one of my best phones.
They used to break all the time randomly. Are new sd cards more durable?
I have had a sandisk microSD in my last 2 phones for 7 years in total and my girlfriend has had hers for 8.
Absolutely no problems with the SD cards (besides Spotify being a piece of shit app)
You gotta pay more than you want for a high quality one. Cheap shit ones still break randomly
That hasn't been my experience in the past with android at all. I have missed having that extra storage the past few years of owning a pixel. That said I made my choice to buy a pixel for graphene and I stand by that choice.

Apparently it is to use cloud services 😉 pixel phone storage was incredibly small. At least this phone has up to 512GB internal storage allegedly. For a ridicous price I assume.

What? What are you talking about?
Expandable storage is for photos, videos, music, books, etc... not for "important data." Pixels made their storage tiny specifically to push users to use Google Drive, Google Photos (pushing the "clean your device" store everything in the cloud BS), YouTube Music, etc...
A vast majority of people also use their phone as an MP3 player and camera and apps, not just a chat device. My music library is not crazy and would not fit on a pixel together with my photos/videos, for example.
You sound like you want a dumb phone instead of a smartphone...

i mean you can just pull them out and read all data on them, so obviously yes
i mean you could technically use an encrypted file system on them ... but that's probably not compatible with the vast majority of card-reader programs out there so people are gonna complain next that you can't look at your SD card photos from a desktop computer ...
Granted, I would only keep a large collection of music on such a card. Wouldn't care if someone removed the card and went through that.
However, would the security issue be that some one could put something malicious on a card and insert it ?
no, AFAIK, android phones never execute any program code that is stored on an external SD card.
