A place to discuss privacy and freedom in the digital world.
Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

MODERATORS
Nvidia Shield. It uses Android but you don't have to add a Google Account. You can also install a custom rom like LineageOS but you will lose some features: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/foster/variant1/
Starting to get a little long in the tooth these days, the pro is still my primary streaming box but I got a random ONN stick from Walmart while on vacation and its noticably snappier and on a newer android OS then the shield.

If you don't use a google account what do you do to get apps? Fdroid? I also suspect not having an account removes the Chromecast functionality.
There's always aurora. And you can install the streaming apps directly on the shield.
But you can forget high quality paid streams. Without a proprietary ROM you're confined at low quality 720p for all the DRMd streaming providers.
(Of course no such problems streaming your ripped blue rays from your Jellyfin server)
