US bill threatens to turn your VPN into a piracy blocklist
(www.techradar.com)
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.
Remember when piracy was shrinking and Netflix was cheap and had a good deal of content?
Ah well, if only we can figure out what changed.
I guess we'll instead try prohibiting VPNs, when something is in demand.. prohibiting it always works great with zero unintended consequences.
Other P2P networks too.
Long live to Soulseek, eMule/ed2k, IPFS, Iroh, Retroshare, Tox and the like.
Is Overnet or iMesh or Bearshare or Frostwire still around?
Honestly idk, but I hope they'd were.
It's almost as if the piracy is not actually why, or not the primary reason, they want to take total control of the internet
When you only needed Netflix. Not Netflix, Hulu, Disney, HBO, Paramount, peacock, starz, apple, Amazon prime... I mean, I think most of us are fine paying for content. But, streaming has become at least as expensive as cable used to be.
