7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

Israel does a thing where if you're jewish they offer for you to come visit Israel, I believe paying for travel and stuff for you, as a way of getting you invested in Israel
They do the same thing with politicians. Thats what the other replies are talking about. I'm not super knowledgeable on this so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, just trying to make more clear what's meant by the other replies

I'm pretty sure it's like a coming of age thing, so yeah I think it might be 🤷🏻♂️ Like I said, just trying to provide context for the answers others are giving, I cannot provide as helpful of an answer as I would like, I really dont know much about this practice

You're talking about birthright trips, which are organized by Chabad, a super Zionist org but not Israel itself. They're free 10 day trips they give to college age students. It is not some Jewish "coming of age" thing or whatever weirdness you're, I assume unintentionally, veering into some gross territory with.

Sure, that makes sense, but the Jewish bar and bat mizvah ceremonies are literally cultural coming of age traditions, equivalent to a quincinera or confirmation. Thus the immediate ick reaction when you frame chabadniks doing birthright as "coming of age".
