I guess that is part of my question. Maduro was captured and the Venezuelan people (more or less) didn’t seem to really care. Is the Cuban leadership popular enough for the people to care or would they more indifferent like the Venezuelan response?

Anything beyond the "it will be over quick" part would be pure conjecture on my behalf. If you mean more long term then if history is anything to go by it will be a brutal guerilla war that USA loses in 20 years.

No but really, Cuba wouldn't stand a chance and would just be ruled as a puppet state, kind of like the Soviet Union did with Ukraine, and Russia is trying to to with Ukraine. Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Cuba, it's just classic imperialist expansionism from the 1800's with some mercantilism thrown in for good (imperial) measure.

But it's definitely an interesting question in a banal, macabre way.
