unless you a running a livepatch setup, you should always reboot after a kernel update.

or an nvidia driver update, but that's an exception.

I'm not I just run 128 GB RAM in 4 dimms on Ryzen7000 which is tricky to get running at a reasonable speed and doesn't always restart right so I'm reticent to restart

that sounds like a drag. have you tried a firmware update?

those usually help with getting ram to play nice.

Yeah. The memory controllers in the DDR5 ryzens just can't handle 4 sticks of 32. The recommendation is 2 x 48gb but with RAM prices the way they are I'm probably going to stick with the 4 32s since that is what I have.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
