I currently use an external optical drive. If someone doesn't own one, they could always buy one later…

You can even buy an external floppy drive too! I got one for under $20 recently to listen to an album that was released on 3.5" floppies, lol

There's really no reason not to have an optical drive beyond cost, and they can be cheap. Mine has a sata blu-ray burner. If you don't have a 5.25" bay there are USB ones.

A common problem with older games is that the DRM isn't compatible with modern computers. Necitating the need for a crack anyways.
