Saying this as a fan, I really don’t think the DT novels really can be translated into a show or movie series. It’s too contradictory from book to book. King just kept going in different directions with each book. Maybe someone could harmonize it all but I’m not sure that’s really possible. I think it works for books but not to film.
That said, I think a tv series that focused just on young Roland, Gilead, and Midworld-that-was could potentially be fantastic (I am admittedly biased as I that’s the part of the series I love the most - The Gunsligner and Wizard & Glass are my two favorites in the series). I think the graphic novels already provide a solid framework for this. If the show could capture the “post-apocalyptic horror meets spaghetti western meets Lord of the Rings” aesthetic I think it could be a huge hit.
