i think Against a dark background by Banks could make a fucking amazing series but them I'm 99% sure they would fuck it up and I wouldn't enjoy it.

I really liked The Wool but didn't like Silo at all. Loved HHGTTG and TV series was good but it's just a fairly accurate adaptation, nothing great. The movie was weak. The first Dirk Gently show was mediocre, the second was fairly good but was only loosely based on the books.

I don't get the obsession some people have with specific lores. Good lore alone doesn't make a good show. Many shit shows were based on The Witcher. I would love to see good, deep, layered, hard Sci-Fi show and I don't care what it's based on. Good lore is like 10% of a good show. At the same time good book is good enough in itself, I don't have see it rehashed in a different format.

I'd like to see The Player of Games adapted. I think it'd work pretty well. Or consider phlebas. The nonlinearity of the other books can make for challenging TV narrative.

Use of Weapons, State of the Art and Inversions would also make great movies. The rest relies on AI too much.

But I still think there's only about 10% chance that someone who actually gets those books would be tasked with adapting them to the screen and wouldn't fuck it up.
