I've been meaning to make a sheath for this knife for the longest time.

I found it intimidating as my first sheath, but I eventually found my focus and rhythm.

I stumbled upon some valuable lessons during the journey, but eventually finished what I can now call my own first sheath! Yes! Small steps!

I found bushcraft knives too cumbersome for cooking, kitchen knives too exaggerated for camping, so this 6inch size coupled with the belt loop made the most sense for my purpose.

Thank you kindly for stopping by.

My wife does leather work. We were asked by a coworker to make a sheath for his old punch dagger. I made a small pocket out of wood for the knife to sit in. That gave her an excuse to try out wet molding and formed the leather around the pocket. Keeps the stitches safe, and because it gets wrapped up, doesn't really matter how the pocket looks.

That sounds like a reasonable approach. I haven't tried wet molding yet, but it's definitely something I've been wanting to try. I must learn to burnish first though.

Do you have any photos of the sheath by any chance?

I'm sorry. It wasn't for me, so I didn't bother to take a picture. I can ask the coworker to take a picture. Probably won't get a shot tomorrow. Likely Wednesday or Thursday before he'll send it.
