Please don't, just let it be dead. The last revival sucked the next one probably will too. Just let people keep their good memories instead of turning it into another simpsons.

Simpsons hasn't been canceled nearly the same number of times. Futurama is the zombie that won't stay down.

[-] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 57 points 1 week ago

The irony is that The Simpsons is the one that should be canceled.

simpsons, they are milking a dead horse to the point its just ahusk. thats what became of SUpernatural too, shouldve ended in season 5, they just milked it with gay fanfiction for another 10 seasons.

I just finished the first episode of Supernatural last night. At least now I know to stop after season 5

[-] WalleyeWarrior@midwest.social 8 points 1 week ago

Watch it until you stop enjoying it. That line is different for everyone, but I promise you that once you feel like it's really gone down hill, it won't get better

[-] OnyxRex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Don't do that to yourself. Season 5 is the original show runner's intended ending. It goes for 15 seasons and a lot of it's flawed charm comes later. Like Futurama, everyone has their decided ending for supernatural. Mine is after season 11.

It's a personal take, but I think that when it stops taking itself as seriously it becomes more fun to watch.

[-] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The first 2 episodes were pretty mid. I assume it greatly improves?

[-] OnyxRex@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It improves. I'm not the best salesman for it. Most honest fans will tell you the show is flawed. It's monster of the week for most of season 1. The creature stories get better in season 2 and the overall plot starts getting more interesting around season 3.

Season 4-5 are considered the best. Season 7 it starts dunking on itself and it's premise, and becomes more cheesy but with a lot of found-family/parental trauma motifs (everyone in supernatural has beef with their family.)

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

6 tries to resemble 5 alittle, and 8 are quite decent, and only 11. almost every other one is wierd and awkward.

[-] hypnicjerk@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Simpsons the show i imagine basically only exists in the modern era to sell merch because its early exposure made it such a strong international brand

[-] pHr34kY@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago

Futurama hasn't declined anywhere near as badly.

[-] DrPop@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

All i can remember about the last season is Kif and Amy have the kids now, there was an NFT episode, and there was an episode that looks like Tintin. I usually can remember the plot and character growth.

[-] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 week ago

They tried so much to do "current thing" but with things from a few years ago that it felt completely irrelevant, it wasn't just NFTs.

[-] pHr34kY@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

If they want to do "current thing", they have to move like South Park and throw half the episode together a week before it airs.

[-] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

No but its travelling the same road, I'd prefer it ends on a high note.

[-] scutiger@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

The time loop finale should have been the real end of the show. It was the perfect sendoff.

In my experience it is. I haven’t watched anything newer. I’m not sure if I ever will.

The good news with all of the series finales for Futurama is eventually you can hit your personal finale

For me it's the fractal of them zooming in and out of the simulations, and slowing down a simulation so far that it feels like to the people observing the simulation that the simulation has stopped, however for the people in the simulation it feels as if their timeline is running exactly the same as always. Everyone's sad to see it end, but Fry and Leela recognize instantly that for the people within the simulation that the stories never end.

IMO it was the perfect ending and I refuse on rewatch to watch past that

I say just do some occasional specials and/or movies.
