A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
- Both “200” and “160” are 2 minutes in microwave math
- When you’re a kid, you don’t realize you’re also watching your mom and dad grow up.
- More dreams have been destroyed by alarm clocks than anything else

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

That’s a very close minded view of sexuality. Sexuality is about way more than just genitals. I’m assuming you are a man. Are you attracted to every human being with a vagina, including trans men? Are you attracted to someone only after seeing their vagina, or are you attracted to other things about them without knowing what their genitals look like? Have you ever just, you know, kissed someone? Without trying to get in their pants? If your sole focus in your sexuality is your partner’s genitals, you’re probably not very fun in relationships.
genitals are the end game and you are talking the opening moves. do you have sex with everyone you kiss? Why would anyone be attracted to everyone? It goes against the basic idea of attraction. I may not be fun in realtionships. To some people. Like if I was having a conversation with someone annoying. Likely no attraction. You see the whole thing is to find someone compatible with you not be the prize for the largest pool of the population. Endgame though is the genitals. There are all sorts of things along the way though.
You didn’t answer my question. Are you attracted to men with vaginas?
Because its a stupid question. A man that has been surgically altered to look like a female. I assume likely. Just the vagina. Likely not. The vagina is part of what leads to the secondary sexual characteristics just like the balls lead to the male ones.
It’s actually the ovaries that produce female hormones, not the vagina. But hormone production is beside the point. So you wouldn’t be attracted to a trans man, even if he has a vagina (and was born with it, no surgery required)? Why is that? What about this hypothetical trans man is unattractive to you?
how could he be born with one without being a woman to begin with? I told you if surgery is done to emultate the look of a femal then maybe but like a sex doll in the distance maybe to. once I realize its artificial. not so much.
A trans man is someone who is born female and transitions to male. Unless they’ve had a phalloplasty, they have a vagina.
yeah. I tend to not be great at keeping it straight and the context lead me to think you were asking the opposite. This is kinda dumb as im not attracted to many woman to begin with. Being a woman is kinda the basic requirement not the end result. So you really can't get an with x you will always have y. You can't logic your way around these things. they just are.
I am asking you if it is possible for you to be attracted to a trans man, who has (and was born with) a vagina, but presents as a man. I’m trying (and apparently failing) to get you to see that your attraction to someone has more to do with their identity and presentation than their genitals. You may not want to sleep with someone who has a penis, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be attracted to them, and being attracted to someone who has a penis, but identifies and presents as female, doesn’t make you gay.
Does that make sense?
I think your getting to pedantic. Your asking about some hypothetical and its like. So far in my 50 plus years I have not been attracted to a man and have not been particularly attracted to most women I pass. I mean I don't go woa every time I pass a woman and sport a boner. That being said I can have women showing a lot of cleavage and it becomes an act of will to not stare at it. I do go woa at the sight of some women if they are hot in my perspective. What is hot. hard to say. I can say something about boobs and ass but you know sometimes it might be the circadian rhythms. I have mistaken men for women and I have been mistaken for a woman. Generally its the distance thing. Like briefly thinking a mannequin is a real person. I honestly don't care that much if I am gay or straight but I am what I am. I mean gay is always going to be wierd to me as is trans and whatnot but I assume straight is kinda wierd for them. So anything is theoretically possible. Maybe I will go gay. Thing is in my experience im the way I am.
