CDs were never very portable, they scratch and these little tabs on their plastic cases break.

What? CDs were highly portable, only scratch when mishandled, and "disc wallets" were a widely used thing.

I live in Germany and I don't even own a car. In your own 4 wheels, I am sure CDs are plenty portable.
