MODERATORS
Voluntary standards can be a useful starting point, but they need teeth to be more than a press release: public reporting, incident disclosure, third-party audits, and consequences for quietly dropping the commitments. Calling it a constitution raises the bar; constitutions are meaningful because institutions can enforce them.
Throughout trumps term... that's sounding less and less to be the case.
Maybe that's the idea, they aren't trying to raise the bar out of what we expect from this pinky swear. Maybe they want us to lower our expectations of a constitution to be "guidelines that we sometimes follow, when they don't get too much in the way of what we want to do".
