United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
Except the flags are poorly put up pieces of shitty polyester.
We all know which country we're in, we don't need violence and plastic waste littering the streets to remind us.
It's not patriotism, it's brain dead virtue signaling. Patriotism would involve improving the lives of people in this country, this achieves nothing but make the place worse.
I fucking hate the flag-shagging.
Some folks tried that in Edinburgh, and they were taken down in a few days. Then put up again. Then taken down again.
Cheap polyester madie-in-china tat cable tied to lampposts.
It's not patriotic, it's insipid and cliche.
Ideally we should have flags and improve people's lives imho
Flags on lampposts is a common thing where I live. They've specially adapted the lampposts to accommodate them in some places, to make it look nice and tidy. Works well.
Sounds like hell on earth
Nah, best part of the UK
Well the only place in the UK I saw that stuff was in the bit of Ireland we havent given back yet. There, either community flies masses of flags on the approaches to their villages and towns as a display of cultural intimidation. This is not the sort of behaviour we should seek to import.
