Concrete streets Asphalt streets

LA has both. And neither are getting fixed faster than they're breaking.

(TW: Slight carbrainism at the end.)

Interestinging topic, personaly I have only ever heard bus operators and transit agencies being opposed to any street redesigns that are marketed as a proposal to improving street safety, especially if the street redesign includes people that don't drive.

For example installation of a raise crosswalk or a raised crossway receives immediate push back in my community by the bus driver and transit agency.

Even though a raised crosswalk and crossways has direct benefits to drivers, such as being able to see pedestrians and children more clearly when crossing. And don't get me started on center pedestrian islands at crosswalks and crossway and the inclusion of bumpouts that prevent drivers from behind overtaken dangerously at a crosswalk and crossways.

Bumpouts are also a great way for a driver to see a pedestrians intent to cross prior to the pedestrian reaching the roadway as well, which allowed traffic to flow more predictably.

The area I live in we had a residential intersection upgraded to something like in the image below. Its great (not perfect) by great IMO, but i still see people in their large emotional support pickup trucks mounting the new curb and driving directly over the new bumpouts like some type of statement against better infrastructure.
