BBC News used to be a respected, if small-c conservative, news organisation. Now it's just an embarrassment. The rest of the BBC is worth saving, but the news division needs all the people at the top fired and not rehired, and everyone below whatever level is appropriate (I don't know the inner workings) seriously considered for firing. Then the charter needs amending to clearly and unequivocally state that the news must remain independent of government or corporate meddling - probably need an oversight committee to ensure that, but how they are chosen is left as an exercise to the reader!
I stopped watching BBC years ago and now when I come across it it feels like I'm watching the news in the V for Vendetta graphic novel.
As a radio nerd from the UK, my love of the BBC is rock solid. The radio, TV, and technology wings of the corporation are right up the with the NHS as something we should be rightly proud of.
But I get a few moments of genuine anxiety when I'm listening to 6Music while cooking dinner, and they go to the news. What will this bulletin's headline be? Reform's plans for if they ever get to form a government, or how many poor people landed on our shores in a small boat today? I get genuinely angry, to the point that I'm more like to roll the broadcast back by a few minutes so I can skip the news entirely. God bless BBC Sounds.
Same. Exactly the same including radio station of choice (though I also like Radio 1 Dance at times)
