It's the same thing that Blender does. It's not greedy at all. If you want something to point at, point at the C# version and how they've gotten funded by Microsoft to put in the C# version.

In 2017, with Miguel de Icaza's support, Godot received a $24,000 donation from Microsoft to implement C# as a scripting language in Godot.

It's only 24,000 as well.
