Explaining “rogue” AIs
(lemmy.nz)
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
I feel it has more to do with the companies already vested in AI found this was an opportune moment to "pull the ladder up" behind them. They know that the barrier to entry is continually dropping, and their models are incredibly inefficient. If they set up all sorts of oversight, requirements, and restrictions on who can do what, they prevent upstarts with less capital from being able to enter the market.
