Software developers are not okay
(www.baldurbjarnason.com)
This is a most excellent place for technology news and articles.
I really want to do the same after years of working in the field and watching it become more and more miserable, but financially I can't really make the leap to starting my own business yet.
As the years go by I keep learning more and more from organizational practices:
trying to keep track of the lessons learned, hoping one day I can make the jump, or at least jump on board with a like minded team
I get the financial aspect of it. I had to save for over a year to put aside enough money to give myself enough initial runway.
However, I was lucky as I had a £90k job, no kids, and my partner and I still have a relatively cheap mortgage.
I will say though, if you do go for it, you'll have a whale of a time and learn so much.
Even if it doesn't work out long term, the skills you'll pick up from working outside your comfort zone will be invaluable.
