It is nothing short of murder for pay. The media companies are guaranteed to already be selling ad space for it and it will bring in billions. And- we should all know already that the nazi organization known as MAGA have already claimed their share of it.

PLEASE- Do not watch this. Do not let them monetize executions.

This paves the way for judges to issue executions far more frequently and will result in the most colossally vile abuse of our legal system we will ever know.

DO NOT WATCH IT. DO NOT SUPPORT MONETIZING MURDER.

(EDIT: it’s been brought to my attention that people need their hand held so, what I am referring to here is that MAGA is going to use American military and social media to publicly execute someone. Whoever hosted it will absolutely profit from it and there is no way MAGA isn’t also going to take their cut)

Widely covered in America. The rest of the world probably skipped that one.

[-] dsilverz@catodon.rocks 5 points 2 weeks ago

I'm aware of it, mostly because of my doomscrolling of Fediverse but I also saw a Brazilian news outlet (G1 Globo) publishing a news article about it. So I can guarantee you; no, we "the rest of the world" didn't skip that one.

In fact, personally, I'm far from merely aware of the upcoming USian "Faces of Death 2026 Remake" as a Brazilian; it's one of the things actively weighing currently in my head in ways that, simultaneously with all the ongoing shitshow I'm watching going on in this demiurgic world and around me, are further desensitizing me regarding my own... fate.

Oh, it goes without saying, no, I'm not going to watch the awful upcoming live assassination.

Unless Reuters, BBC, and the Associated Press are secluded to the US only, its world news.

[-] AceSLive@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

And for those of us who don't have our antenna/cable connected, and live in Australia.... or anywhere else in the world....?

Context does help when you're posting on a website the world has access to

Jesus fucking Bean Soup, dude. Not everything caters to you. That you don't care doesn't mean it's not a relevant topic

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca -1 points 2 weeks ago

Then I guess it really wasn’t meant for them to begin with and it’s okay if they just scroll past it.

[-] Hamartiogonic@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago

A significant part of Lemmy is very US centric and that’s why it’s hard to find anything interesting.

[-] AceSLive@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

So it's alright with you if someone from another country stumbles across a link or advertisement for the live execution and pays to see it? As long as they're not american....

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

I’d prefer no one watch it. Regardless of where they’re from.

[-] AceSLive@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

And I'd agree - so wouldn't it make sense to provide context to the world, considering you provided the information to me - and probably others...

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

Because sooner or later. It’s going to reach everyone. Better to get ahead of it- provide perspective, and hope it’s taken seriously than to ignore it and hope for the best.

[-] Vespair@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 weeks ago

Do you remember to stretch first before contorting yourself to find a way to be offended?

[-] AceSLive@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

Sorry that I hurt your feelings by pointing out that context would have been helpful in this post.

Most people across the world, when following news, don't check Reuters, BBC and AP. They're all in English and pay little attention to more narrow national news outside US/UK.

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Fair enough. I can see that. The point remains however.

[-] Hamartiogonic@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 weeks ago

Reuters and BBC have news about it, but it’s not top news. You need to scroll a bit and keep your eyes open or you’ll miss it.

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca 0 points 2 weeks ago

Oh. Well then please accept my apologies for posting about something that so many people are unaware of. I’ll get and keep the entire population of lemmy’s interests in mind before I think to post about something that concerns me.

[-] Hamartiogonic@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

You’re welcome. Always glad to be of assistance.

American mind can't comprend the world is bigger than the anglosphere

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca -4 points 2 weeks ago

Foreign mind can’t comprehend that not everything is meant for their consumption.

You posted this on !general@lemmy.world. And you have the gall to talk down to people asking what it is about.

[-] Pratai@piefed.ca -2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Ahh. Okay… so it’s cool to bag on America. But everything else is off limits. Don’t just not like being excluded? Does everything HAVE to appeal to you?

Blocked.
