Germany invaded Poland 1st of September 1939 and it lasted until Japan signed the documents of their surrender 2nd of September 1945.
Germany didn't attack Russia until June of 1941, so for the Russians WWII is shorter
Not necessarily true, if you consider Khalkhin Gol it could be said the Russians were fighting Japan, off the books as it were, being the first after China. Even if it was temporary.
And don't forget that the Soviets invaded Poland and Finland in 1939, even if they failed to take Finland. And the 1940 invasions of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Romania.
