Nobody freaks out when skilled programmers/professionals use AI, it's actually a tool for them and not full-on skill substitution.

Nobody freaks out when skilled programmers/professionals use AI

Wrong. Because there are inherent problems with ethics, such as data it has been trained on and licensing questions. Also using LLM might decrease your competence over time. This also gives too much power to those few companies who control what data and logic the Ai is fed with. Even skilled programmers, professionals or not, get lazy.

BTW I am not 100% anti Ai, but I'm not a pro vibe. I think its fine the way some developers use Ai tools. But regardless how it is used, the ethical and licensing questions remain.

Yeah, of all the people out there using Claude, he's the absolute least worrisome. He'll read the whole thing, and if he doesn't like anything at all that it does, he won't let it do it.

lots of people freak out actually (not me)

If I'm at the wheel or some other newbie vibe coder, FTFO. Senior devs that use it as a time-saving tool? I'm happy to trust their judgement.

What you’re saying is that if you aren’t a famous programmer you deserve to be ridiculed for using the same tool?

And how do you square this with all the crying about water?!

[-] Goodlucksil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 days ago

Not if you're famous, if you're bad at coding on your own

[-] thingsiplay@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

Nobody cares how famous a person is (in relation to this issue). If anything, the position and power a person has is much more important.

Where did I say famous? Read harder. Water concerns are separate from wreckless vibe-coding concerns.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
