I was recently deciding between Signal and an XMPP client (Conversations). I ultimately landed on XMPP but I think if Signal still allowed for sending SMS/MMS I might have gone for Signal. It came down to the question if I need to have everyone I contact use a specific app, then should that be Signal or an XMPP client?
