Furries are typically nonsexual. It's more often than not just roleplay for autistics.

There's 2 types of furries:
I paid a ton of money for this fursuit, I don't want to ruin it by having sex in it!
I paid a ton of money for this fursuit, of course I'm going to use it for sex!
There is a much more common third type of furry: "I want a fursuit soooo bad but I don't have $10k+ lying around so in the meantime I guess I'll go to furry conventions and {have sex,just hang out} without one"
So, they're furry adjacent, optimally. ☝🏼

I'm actually an asexual furry. So no, you don't have to engage in any sex at all. I like the aesthetic and I've met a bunch of my friends through the fandom as a shared point of commonality.
Probably the biggest question you'll get asked as a new furry is "what is your fursona?" If you say you don't have one, everyone will make a pitch to try to sell you on theirs. (psst Maned wolves are cool.)

As someone who lives where they are naturally occurring, I can confirm that they are cool. There's also a specific tree (lobeira, Solanum lycocarpum) that's essential to their diet and needs those wolves to reproduce.
That's awesome! I would imagine that the roar barks at night are probably the stuff of nightmares... unless you know it's coming from those goofy ass noodle leg guys.
One thing that seemed to be contentious back in the day was whether us bronies were furries.

I'm guessing people would be weirded out if they knew you weren't actually furry-inclined, so it's probably more down to being a good actor, if you're just there to network. And then basic networking skills, after that.
For the real Furry Certificate, you need long socks and to install and use specifically Arch Linux.
