I thought you can't even use those without an account. Is that not the case?
Not sure about the newer ones, but I've got a Quest 1 that is now unsupported and I can use that without an account. Even standalone with free games.
But you can also root the Quest 2 and 3 to use them completely without any ties to Meta.
Are you using it on Linux? If so, how is the compatibility?
Been a while. My daughter's been playing a lot with it standalone.
The Quest 1 isn't supported by Steam Link so the only way for PCVR is ALVR as far as I know. Back then it was pretty involved to set up but did work nicely. I think by now it should be easier.
