hey everyone, i wanted to share a democratic funding platform i recently launched.

every week or month (depending on how our funds hold out), we fund a new solarpunk project, with the winner determined by vote in our app. to make it fun, you swipe right on a project to vote for it.

right now, we have enough members to award about two $250 prizes per month. however, we have a problem...

we need project submissions! otherwise, there is nothing for people to vote for.

so, if you're working on an art project, or an ecology project, or a sustainability project, or really anything at the intersection of technology and nature, please submit your project! it is completely free to submit.

this is a work in progress, so i greatly appreciate any questions or feedback. thanks!

I would suggest not calling it "tinder for" because tinder nature is strictly predatory :P

But I do have your project in my lists because it's for sure a nice application even if I think that the mean is not enough to drive the mission. Basically having a much easier interface to vote (instead of other democratic interfaces) is cool but the hard part will still be to have people thinking that it's worth to donate to a fund

Said that, do you accept donations and projects and votes from all over the world or there are geolocalized only sides?

Haha, yeah, I'm still workshopping the best way to explain it to people. And I agree, it is a challenge for sure. I'm cautiously optimistic because we have about 70 subscribers, and we only need about 200 to fund a new project every week (granted, our prizes are really small). And once we can fund a new project every week I think it will feel pretty exciting. Although, one thing I didn't anticipate is that it's also hard to get people to submit projects!

We do accept voters, donors, and project submitters from all around the world! So far, we've had winners from Kenya, the United States, Peru, and the Netherlands. And we've had voters from all over the globe. Our only requirement for voting is that you contribute to our community in some way: either financially, by purchasing a membership or donating; or by growing our community, for example by inviting new people and sharing solarpunk recommendations.

I think in the future it could be cool to have local chapters, but... baby steps.
