Idk, sounds at least a little broken to me.
If everything is priced in millions of coins, redenominate and adjust the currency lifecycle. For example, if every time you kill a goblin you get one coin, that's free money created out of nothing. You need to have somewhere the player is spending and destroying that money.
I think that's something that hasn't been fully "solved" in any MMO. Money gets created out of nothing and, with enough time, prices inflate into absurdity. Even with auction house taxes and other sinks that forces players to spend their money, they still end up creating more money than is destroyed.
Trying to implement a wealth tax system would be hard, as players could easily find loopholes in order to avoid paying most or all of it, whether by using alts or keeping most of the money as things that wouldn't enter the math for their "net worth". Not to mention that, depending on the setting, it would create a massive shitstorm.
People love to complain about the GE tax, but god it must help fight inflation
Yeah but they did nothing to change the standard rates of gold flowing into and out of the game. A “fresh start” might help as a brief one-off, but it’s not fixing the root of the problem in the slightest.
