I have given up trying to have this conversation, especially on Lemmy, but even in general. There is a mass hysteria surrounding anything even tangentiality related to AI. I think there must be something innately human that makes people 'throw the baby out with the bathwater' when it comes to change and the fear that comes with it.

What I find more productive is to just leave the naysayers and doomers to there own devices. Most people just don't get it, and that's okay.

I generally agree, there is a lot of hysteria over this tech, and it will eventually burn itself out. I just find it really disappointing that people on the left refuse to engage in a rational fashion with what's happening, and what is to be done.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
