I had tried using stremio and real-debrid, but since real-debrid started to filter their results and some addons just don't seem reliable any more (ie: torrentio), I think it's time to update or replace my setup.

I would use it for just T.V. and movies, nothing really obscure (maybe older, but popular, shows/movies).

I had tried:

  • real-debrid (not happy with)
  • self-hosted comet (not happy with)
  • zilean (not happy with)
  • torrentio (I've actually removed it, because it seemed to be broken more often than not, but when it worked it had great results)
  • steaming catalogs (love it)
  • aiolist (atm seems to be broken or I need to upgrade it)

Other than streaming catalogs, I'm struggling to find an add-on which aggregates what's popular/recent now (was using trakt via aiolist).

What would you suggest?

I have a vague recollection that there was a paid service like torrentio (debrid-link?). Would something like that salvage my real-debrid?

Would I get better results with zilean/comet, if I replaced real-debrid with another debrid service (ie: world-debrid, alldebrid, torbox, etc)?

Ideally, I'd like to keep the costs low, but I'm also getting tired of getting 480 resolution because that's the only thing that comet/zilean can find that exists on real-debrid. Self-hosting could be possible (but I'd like to avoid).

edit: a couple of words.

Try Premiumize. It's probably the best debrid service available today. They usually have a Black Friday sale, so you might want to pay for a month to try it out, then get a year or two for cheap during Black Friday.

If you have an Android streaming box, try it with either Weyd or Syncler. Syncler is a continuation of the old TVZion app, if you ever used that.

In addition to file hosts and torrents like Real Debrid, Premiumize also supports Usenet. You'd still need an indexer like NZBGeek, but you can use your Premiumize account to download .nzb files instead of having to get a separate Usenet subscription. You can use the Premiumize Usenet server in Sabnzbd too, if you ever want to automate downloads using the -arr suite instead of just streaming.

I appreciate the advice.

Long ago, I explored self-hosting arr-stack and Usenet. For me, it was a lot of work with many moving parts. It was great for obscure content, but being able to just stream content via stremio was a fantastic improvement.

If I'm looking at streaming, premiumize I feel could be overkill (comparing the price to other debris providers).

The most comparable plan from another provider is the Torbox pro plan, which is around the same price IIRC. I don't think any of the other services include Usenet, 1TB permanent storage space, a VPN, and a bunch of other features.

Last year the Premiumize Black Friday sale was 129 Euro for 3 years.
