I use torbox and the plugin StreamThru Torz, I love it. Consistently finding high quality cached streams for nearly everything I search for. iirc StreamThru Torz supports real-debrid, could be worth trying that first before jumping ship
Thanks for suggesting Stremthru Torz, I'll take a peek at it.
Regarding torbox, I am a bit confused by how it's a replacement for debrid.
From their website, it looks like it's effectively a seedbox. You give it torrents and it fetches them... meaning you need to wait for them to download and it consumes whatever disk space your plan allows. Or does torbox have some cache where it pulls torrents from and if there isn't a cache-hit, it'll fetch it.
Would torbox's Essential ($3/mo) be enough for stremthru troz?
Aiostreams is another add-on substitute. I've liked it so far because it's super customizable and keeps my stremio interface clean based on the filters I've put (though filters are a double edged sword of you restrict too much). You can then have torrentio and other file sharers configured directly to it.
For TorBox, the essential plan has been great so far. Real debrid has taken a pretty crappy turn (logging user data, blocking connections, etc.) while torbox is more lenient and flexible to say the least. It has both caches and fetches from whatever add-ons you put in the Aiostreams (or alternative) add-on from my understanding.
Depending on your internet, it would download to their server and cast on your device pretty instantly - their connections are fast.
Also note that torrentio has been failing a lot and I think there are a couple of alternatives to it. I think torrentdz or something?
Thanks for explaining TorBox. It makes much more sense now. I'm going to give them a shot.
Aiostreams is something I've used as well... and you're totally right about the "double edged sword".
I couldn't find "torrentdz", but I did find torrentsdb, which matches your description.
In fact, I'll install torrentsdb and see if it's better/worse than the current comet+zilean combo (with real-debrid).
Torbox can be use just like RD, it does advert as a seedbox but this functionality is junk, nowhere close to be as good as a (real) seedbox provider. Also, debriding from hosters isn't very reliable. I mean, it does work usually but not as stable as other debrid services but essential plan is cheap and allow multi IP so you can share account.
Oh, wow. Thanks for bringing up the hosters lack of reliability.
Every once in awhile, I'll use RD to fetch content on mega or 1fichier. It's not a "must have" feature, but it is kinda handy.
Does torbox have support for mega and 1fichier? I couldn't find a comprehensive list of their supported holsters.
I'd forgotten about RD limiting one account to a single IP. Since torbox would support mutli-ip, it would be nice to not worry about if I'd left the streaming on at home while on the road via mobile (or needing to VPN, etc).
It does support hosters you mentioned. I should have mentioned overall reliability is Ok but really not the best https://status.torbox.app/ I still have active suscription but did move away few months ago as i got fedup... To be honest, they do have some good things but feels like they still need a lot of work and they really had some nonsens approach like until early this year (if i'm not mistaken), they were running qbitorrent gui instance...
I'm curious, if you got fedup with torbox, what did you move too?
Alldebrid. Stability apart, my other concern with TB was cached files in my own language (that's why i did not mentioned it) but TB is good for english content, probably best than alldebrid for that matter.
