Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I had that experience, too. Then, some years back, I just stopped having issues with audio in Linux, it Just Worked.
But, maybe a year ago, my desktop machine started this thing where there is noise when the audio driver is active (I'm guessing, I don't really know). That is, if the system plays a sound, for some seconds after that, I'll hear noise from the speakers. Then it cuts off, until the next sound is played.
I've done some searching on the issue, without useful results, everything is about the power saving setting, which has had no effect for me. And the issue those people are having is different than mine, and I haven't hit on quite the right search terms to distinguish.
i was getting an unpleasant pop when I closed or opened programs that used audio. did a bunch of googlin and figured out it is some little auto switch that turns off the audio function when not in use, to save some infinitesimal amount of energy. I don't remember the commands but they're out there. try searching for linux mint audio pop.
Yeah that's not the issue, that's what I was talking about in my comment. My issue is different.
Similar thing happened to me, I think it was the switch to pipewire that made everything just work.
